KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- Musyawarah Nasional is expected to serve as a platform bringing together Islamic and Malay non-governmental organisations, professionals, influential figures, and opinion leaders to interact, exchange views, and formulate the best solutions to the challenges facing the ummah today.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the platform would also provide a forum to pool wisdom and deliver major benefits not just for the Malay and Muslim communities, but for the nation's future.
“Today I handed over appointment letters to five Musyawarah Nasional pillar chairmen, who will lead discussions in their respective areas of expertise, covering religion, politics, the economy, education, and social affairs,” he said in a Facebook post.
Ahmad Zahid said he and former Johor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Othman, who was appointed as Musyawarah Nasional chairman, also discussed matters that could be pursued to advance the future development of the ummah.
Among those who received the appointment letters were Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) executive chairman Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir Jamalullail, appointed the Economic pillar chairman, and Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Prof Datuk Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, appointed chairman of the Religion pillar.
Ahmad Zahid had previously said the Musyawarah Nasional would focus on five main pillars: religion, politics, the economy, education and social affairs, to bring together ideas, views and strategic proposals for shaping the future direction of the Malay community and the country.
