BUKIT GANTANG, April 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 330 entrepreneurs in the Bukit Gantang parliamentary constituency have received assistance under the Skim Usahawan Bangkit (SUB), aimed at helping small businesses expand and boosting the local economy.

Bukit Gantang Member of Parliament Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal said the scheme has provided fresh opportunities for small entrepreneurs facing constraints such as limited capital and lack of equipment.

“Aid ranging from RM1,000 to RM3,000 was given based on recipients’ needs, with site visits conducted to ensure the assistance matched their business requirements,” he told reporters at the handover ceremony here today.

One recipient, Natasha Shahidan, 41, from Kampung Menteri, said the assistance had helped her expand the eatery she has operated for the past six years.

The mother of five said her application was approved quickly and she received kitchen equipment, including chairs and dining tables.

“I am very grateful because previously I only had a small cooking area, but now I have three stoves, allowing the business to grow further,” she said.

Another recipient, Lizawati Mat Razak, 43, from Kuala Sepetang, said the aid had significantly improved her mixed rice and fried food business, which she has operated for 26 years.

The mother of three said she had struggled to equip her business due to unstable income and applied for the scheme after learning about it from a friend, despite never having received any assistance before.

“With this aid, my food stall is now more complete and I am more motivated to continue the business,” she said.
