KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) is expanding its Cilik-Cilik Dah Celik Programme nationwide in phases, following the success of its pilot initiative, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance financial literacy among the community.

Launched on Oct 4 last year, the initiative targets young families, particularly those with children under the age of 12, with the aim of laying a strong foundation in financial management while nurturing a saving culture in preparation for the haj pilgrimage.

TH Group managing director and chief executive officer Mustakim Mohamad said the programme underscores the role of families in instilling positive financial habits and disciplined saving practices from an early age.

“Through financial education among young families, depositors are able to plan their finances, especially their children’s savings, in a more structured and gradual way towards istito’ah, or the ability to perform the haj pilgrimage,” he said in a statement today.

TH, which is also an associate member of the Financial Education Network (FEN), said the programme comprises six main modules over a six-month period, including family financial planning, cash flow management, savings and investments, and financial security.

Participants were introduced to interactive learning methods, including workshops, simulations, online learning and gamification activities, to enhance their understanding and engagement.

About 100 families took part in the graduation ceremony for the programme’s pilot group.

“This initiative reflects TH’s commitment to strengthening financial literacy and supporting the development of a financially literate generation, in line with the aspirations of the National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2026-2030 and efforts to help depositors #menujuistitoah,” the statement said.
