STOCKHOLM, April 22 (Bernama-dpa) -- Electrolux said on Wednesday it will end production at its Jászberény, Hungary plant, which manufactures built-in and freestanding refrigeration products, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
The Swedish maker of household appliances said the closure is expected to impact around 600 employees, with production at the site set to cease by the end of 2026.
The company said it will book a restructuring charge of approximately 0.6 billion kroner (US$65 million) in the second quarter, about half of which will be cash-related.
The decision follows a strategic review aimed at improving cost competitiveness, Electrolux said, citing stagnant market demand, pricing pressure and rising cost constraints.
The group added that it will continue to meet demand for refrigeration products by leveraging existing operations and working with external original equipment manufacturing partners.
