KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- National professional muay thai athlete Umar Usman Abu Bakar is determined to extend his unbeaten record when he competes in the TFight All Star Muay Thai championship at Stadium Titiwangsa here tomorrow night.
The 25-year-old fighter, better known as Umar Al-Matin, is expected to face a tough challenge from experienced Thai opponent Daraeak, who boasts a longer fight record, including several titles in his home country.
Umar, who currently holds a 10-fight unbeaten record, said his opponent’s reputation does not affect his confidence, but instead serves as motivation to deliver his best performance.
“It motivates me even more to extend my winning record. Insya-Allah, I will do my best to maintain the clean record.
“I never underestimate any opponent, whether new or experienced. Every fight must be approached with full focus and caution,” he told reporters here today.
Elaborating further, Umar Al-Matin expressed confidence in his preparations, particularly in terms of fitness and strategy, which he believes will be key advantages in the bout.
He said discipline throughout the fight and the ability to seize opportunities will be crucial to success, while not ruling out the possibility of securing a knockout (KO) victory over his opponent.
The TFight All Star championship will also feature several other local fighters, including Mohd Rafi Abdul Manaf (Mat Ropi) and Hasril Nazmi (Nazmie Dancing Boy).
Meanwhile, TFight Malaysia marketing officer Mohd Khairul Hafiz Hassan said the response to the event has been very encouraging, with Stadium Titiwangsa, which has a capacity of about 1,300 spectators, expected to be fully packed.
He added that all tables have been sold out, while only about 300 over-the-counter tickets remain available for purchase today and tomorrow.
