KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- The government today outlined five strategic priorities to address the increasingly complex global supply crisis in a bid to ensure the economic stability and the continued well-being of the people.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the measures encompass efforts to stabilise the supply of energy and critical inputs, control cost-of-living pressures, ensure key public projects are not stalled, protect jobs and family incomes and build long-term economic resilience.
"Our country is currently facing increasingly complex global economic pressures. Initially, this crisis was seen as a fuel supply issue.
"But now, its impact has expanded to supply chains, logistics costs, energy supplies, industrial raw materials, agricultural inputs, food prices, the construction sector, labour market and investor confidence,” he said at today's Global Supply Crisis briefing.
Elaborating, he said the government is managing the situation in phases, guided by data, engagement with industry players and on-the-ground assessments.
"Our focus is not merely on stabilising prices, but ensuring that energy supply and basic essentials remain secure, that costs to the people do not surge and on building the country's economic resilience for the long term,” he said.
