US Dollar Ticks Up

NEW YORK, April 30 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The United States (US) dollar strengthened in late trading on Wednesday, reported Xinhua.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.32 per cent to 98.956 at 3 pm (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to US$1.1682 from US$1.1714 in the previous session, and the British pound lost to US$1.3483 from US$1.3518 in the previous session.

The US dollar bought 160.32 Japanese yen, higher than 159.55 Japanese yen in the previous session.

The US dollar climbed to 0.7907 Swiss francs from 0.7893 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3681 Canadian dollars from 1.3679 Canadian dollars.

The US dollar rose to 9.3074 Swedish kronor from 9.2716 Swedish kronor.
