GEORGE TOWN, May 3 (Bernama) -- Penang is committed to ensuring that the state administration remains stable, transparent and has integrity in the face of global uncertainties and current challenges within the country.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said feedback from a series of tours and visits with the people showed that they wanted a peaceful, stable and orderly state.

“The people want a prosperous and stable situation, not chaos, so as leaders, as a government, we want to ensure that the State of Penang continues to be administered with full responsibility and prudence.

"Especially so that we can focus on the development, well-being, balance and harmony of the people," he told reporters after the Chief Minister's Tour Programme to the Pulau Tikus Public Market here, today.

The visit was also attended by the Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (KUSKOP) who is also Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim and Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo Sze Zeng.

Meanwhile, Chow said the state government is open to receiving criticism of the policies implemented and would continue to improve any weaknesses to ensure that the stability and confidence of the people were maintained.

He said that although there were certain issues that triggered various reactions, the matter was considered normal in the administration and would be handled prudently in the interests of the people and the state.
