05/05/2026 03:20 PM

IPOH, May 5 (Bernama) -- The Perak State Education Complex, which houses the State Education Department (JPN), and the School in Hospital (SDH) at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) were officially opened today, further enhancing access to education through more modern and inclusive facilities.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the RM56 million administrative complex was developed to strengthen the state’s education management system and improve service delivery to teachers, students and parents.

“The synergy between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Public Works Department (JKR) will further enhance efforts to provide quality and safe infrastructure that benefits students.

“This project reflects strong collaboration and brings benefits to the entire MOE workforce, particularly JPN Perak. A key feature is the Rumah Perak at the main entrance, symbolising the state’s cultural identity,” she told reporters after the project handover ceremony here today.

Also present were Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh, Deputy Director-General of Public Works (Building Sector) Datuk Ibrahim Esa, and MOE Deputy Secretary-General (Planning and Development) Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim.

Fadhlina said the complex, built on a 6.2-acre site, began construction in 2022 and was completed in March, incorporating local architectural elements as a landmark for education in the state.

She said occupancy is being carried out in stages, with full operations expected to begin in early July.

“The facilities include computer laboratories and other amenities to support efficient and optimal operations at JPN,” she said.

Fadhlina also officiated the SDH programme at HRPB to ensure students undergoing treatment continue to have access to formal education.

She said 21 SDH programmes have been implemented across 12 states, involving 18 hospitals under the Ministry of Health (MOH), benefiting more than 454,000 students to date.

“The SDH programme at HRPB is significant as it addresses the need to ensure continuity in education even under challenging circumstances,” she said.

Earlier, in her speech, Fadhlina said Perak’s consistent efforts in narrowing the urban-rural infrastructure gap have contributed to improvements in education quality.

She said a conducive learning environment supported by proper facilities has a direct impact on students’ academic performance, underscoring the importance of infrastructure development.

“Perak is among the states that have consistently reduced the urban-rural gap, particularly in terms of facilities, contributing to its improved educational performance.

“It is hoped that continued infrastructure development will further close disparities and expand access to education for our children,” she said.

Fadhlina added that the project is part of the MADANI Government’s commitment under the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2026-2035, which focuses on strengthening service delivery at the state and district levels.
