RM1.1 Bln Investment Case: Rafizi To Resume Giving Statement Tomorrow

05/05/2026 08:32 PM

PUTRAJAYA, May 5 (Bernama) -- Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli will continue providing his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the RM1.1 billion investment case tomorrow.

The former minister confirmed the matter with reporters outside the MACC headquarters after he finished giving his statement for nine hours today.

"I will resume tomorrow, only that I will begin at 2 pm,” he said, adding that his statement was closely related to his functions as a minister and that the documents examined in the investigation against him were related to ministerial matters classified as confidential.

“All these documents were taken by MACC investigators, not me. Whatever they collect in the investigation is up to them, whether to refer it to me or otherwise.

“If I had those documents, I would definitely be in trouble because they are all classified documents. So all those documents are under the jurisdiction of the investigators,” he added.

Meanwhile, MACC Senior Director of the Investigation Division Datuk Mohd Hafaz Nazar confirmed that Rafizi’s statement recording session ended at about 7pm.

“The statement recording will continue for a third day tomorrow, which is expected to take place in the afternoon,” he said when contacted.

Today marked the second day Rafizi was called in to assist in investigations related to alleged abuse of power and misappropriation in investment dealings involving a strategic cooperation agreement in the semiconductor industry between the Ministry of Economy and Arm Holdings of the United Kingdom.
