06/05/2026 09:39 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- The HAWANA 2026 Media Forum, hosted by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), will be held tomorrow as a platform for stakeholders across the media industry to exchange views on key issues shaping the sector.

The forum will gather media leaders, journalists, academics, public relations practitioners, as well as lecturers and students from public and private universities.

The HAWANA 2026 Media Forum Secretariat, in a statement, said discussions will focus on sustaining media organisations amid tightening revenue conditions and the need for journalists to adapt to a fast-changing and increasingly complex media environment.

The forum will also emphasise the importance of building a resilient, forward-looking Malaysian media ecosystem, particularly in the digital era and with the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI).

“Several board members of the Malaysian Media Council will participate as panellists, including leading a dedicated session, as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism and governance within the industry,” the statement read.

The forum will be officiated by Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching and will feature prominent journalists and industry experts. Its expanded full-day format is aimed at encouraging deeper discussions and more meaningful exchanges.

The HAWANA 2026 Media Forum is held in conjunction with the Malaysian National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2026 which will be celebrated on June 20.
