MANILA, May 6 (Bernama-PNA) -- A fleet of electrified vehicles from luxury brand Lexus Philippines will cater to the transportation needs of heads of state and official delegates to this year’s Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which is being chaired by the Philippines, the Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported.

In a statement on Tuesday, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) said they will utilise Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) models like Lexus LS500 and LM350, “underscoring a shared vision for regional sustainability and innovation.”

“The fleet will be utilised across key summit locations, including Cebu and Manila, ensuring refined, reliable mobility throughout the event,” it said.

TMP said shuttle van service will also be provided for working members of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) involved in hosting key events such as the ASEAN-BAC 106th Council Meeting, the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (ABIS), and the ASEAN Business Awards (ABA).

“By serving as the official mobility partner for ASEAN 2026, we aim to demonstrate how secure, seamless mobility can coexist with a deep commitment to nation-building and a sustainable future,” TMP president Masando Hashimoto said.

“Through our electrified lineup, we are providing more than just transport for the region’s highest-level engagements but we are also showcasing a forward-thinking pathway to electrified elegance that prioritises both quiet refinement and our collective responsibility toward a greener, more resilient ASEAN.”

The statement said “Toyota and Lexus’ participation is part of the ASEAN 2026 Corporate Citizenship Programme, which integrates private sector innovation to elevate the hosting of the 48th and 49th ASEAN Summits.”

Citing the ASEAN National Organising Council (NOC), the statement noted that “the partnership signals an important focus on sustainability within the region.”

“The deployment of electrified vehicles is fitting for the critical dialogues on environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and energy security among regional leaders and policymakers,” it added.
