HONIARA, May 7 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Governor-General of the Solomon Islands, David Tiva Kapu, has set May 15 as the date for the election of a new prime minister, reported Xinhua.
Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele was removed from office on Thursday after the National Parliament passed a motion of no confidence by a narrow margin of 26 votes to 22.
Nominations for possible candidates from both the opposition coalition and the outgoing government will be open from May 8 to 10, ahead of the parliamentary sitting on May 15 to elect a new prime minister.
