Pop Star Shakira Posts Taster Of World Cup Song

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 8 (Bernama-dpa) -- Colombian singer Shakira offered a taste of the official song for the 2026 football World Cup in a short Instagram video on Thursday, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

At the start of the song Dai Dai, Shakira walks across the pitch at the iconic Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro with the official World Cup ball, Trionda, tucked under her arm.

She then sings part of the song alongside dancers. At the end, the camera pulls out of the stadium and the words "We are ready" can be seen on the roof.

The full song by Shakira and Nigerian musician Burna Boy is to be released on May 14. World football’s governing body FIFA also shared the singer’s Instagram post.

Shakira previously contributed the official World Cup song for the 2010 tournament in South Africa with Waka Waka.

The men's World Cup will be held in June and July in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 

Last weekend, the pop star gave a free concert at Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro in front of an estimated two million visitors.
