KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- The founder and chairman of OE EduGroup, Datuk Dr Calvin Khiu Fu Siang, was awarded the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree yesterday.

OE EduGroup, in a statement today, announced that the entrepreneur received the degree at the 36th HELP University Convocation Ceremony, held in conjunction with the university's 40th anniversary celebration.

In the statement, Khiu expressed gratitude to all family members for their continuous support, and admitted that he was not someone who enjoyed studying in the past, but years of experience in practical learning had changed his perspective on knowledge and personal development.

"Finally, I realised how learning has changed my life multiple times. I truly understand how important knowledge is to someone," he said, adding that entrepreneurs who do not improve themselves will be left behind.

Khiu said that throughout the two years of study, he focused on research and learning before completing his DBA.

He said that through the studies, it not only opened more international perspectives and more systematic management thinking, but also made him aware of the importance of the combination of academic knowledge and practical experience.

"In the future, I want to combine academics and practical experience to take OE EduGroup to a higher level, as well as make practical learning more systematic for more entrepreneurs and the younger generation," he also said.

In the meantime, he also hopes to help more entrepreneurs to reduce mistakes in business, strengthen strategic thinking, and build long-term capabilities via a more structured education system.

Khiu added that the true value of education is not just about certificates or academic qualifications, but in how it changes one's way of thinking, perspective and life direction.
