BANGI, May 12 (Bernama) -- The International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia 2026 (IGEM 2026), to be held from Oct 7 to 9 in Kuala Lumpur, is expected to generate RM22.5 billion in potential business leads and attract 60,000 visitors.
The event will also bring together participants from 50 countries and feature about 450 exhibition booths.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup said this reflects IGEM’s scale and growing role as a regional hub for green innovation and sustainable business opportunities.
“The theme for IGEM 2026 is ‘Race Towards Net Zero: Action Beyond Boundaries’, which underscores the urgency for accelerated and collective climate action.
“As the world moves towards net zero, stronger collaboration across industries, sectors and borders is essential. In this era of geopolitical uncertainty, energy security and sustainability have become shared imperatives that require coordinated action,” he said in his speech at the soft launch of IGEM 2026 here today.
IGEM 2026 will feature a dedicated sustainable lifestyle section showcasing the latest green technology advancements in consumer-driven sectors such as food and beverages, fashion and cosmetics.
In addition, IGEM will introduce new segments, including a platform for property developers to showcase sustainable and green-certified developments, as well as an expanded mobility section featuring innovations in clean transportation, electric vehicles and future mobility solutions.
Now in its 17th edition, IGEM has grown in scale and impact as a key platform for the green industry in Southeast Asia and is widely recognised as the region’s leading trade event for green technologies and eco solutions.
Since its inception, IGEM has attracted over 700,000 visitors and 4,700 exhibitors, generating more than RM86 billion in business leads, reflecting Malaysia’s strong leadership in green economy development.
Speaking on Malaysia’s climate action efforts, Arthur said the country increased its climate ambition last year by targeting a reduction of 15 to 30 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2035 through strong domestic measures and international cooperation.
“This target aligns with our national frameworks, such as the Long-Term Low Emissions Development Strategy (LT-LEDS) and the 13th Malaysia Plan, guiding our path towards a low-carbon future and our goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,” he said.
Arthur added that the government continues to strengthen its support ecosystem to accelerate green adoption among businesses through key incentives such as the Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA), the Green Technology Financing Scheme (GTFS) and the MyHIJAU Mark and Directory.
He said these initiatives help lower investment costs, improve access to financing and enhance market visibility for certified green products and services.
Arthur also said a key conference under IGEM, the Kuala Lumpur Sustainability Summit (KLSS), will be held as a platform for stakeholders to exchange views and work together towards a low-carbon and more resilient future.
Launched in 2025, KLSS is a regional platform supporting climate action and sustainable development in Southeast Asia. It provides a high-level platform for discussions on key issues such as climate policy, sustainable finance, carbon governance and industrial decarbonisation, while fostering collaboration that leads to practical and measurable outcomes.
