PHNOM PENH, May 14 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Cambodia and Laos on Thursday pledged to boost security cooperation, said a news release from the Cambodian prime minister's spokesperson unit, reported Xinhua.

The pledge was made during a meeting at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and visiting Lao Minister of Public Security Vanthong Kongmany.

"Combating transnational crime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and cybercrime is an essential task that requires close and collective cooperation between the two countries," Hun Manet said during the meeting.

He expressed his firm confidence that security cooperation between the two ASEAN member states would continue to be further strengthened.

For his part, Kongmany said he hoped his visit would contribute to strengthening cooperation in security and public order, particularly in border provinces, and in combating transnational crime, to ensure safety, stability, and public order for the people of both countries.
