KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- HERE Technologies, the mapping and location data platform, has unveiled HERE Last Meter Guidance, a location intelligence solution designed to help drivers complete final handoffs more quickly and accurately using artificial intelligence (AI)-based navigation.
Currently in beta, the solution provides guidance from optimal parking locations to final delivery points, including walking paths and building entry points. HERE Technologies will demonstrate the solution at Home Delivery World USA in Nashville, Tennessee.
Its Senior Director of Product Management, Bart Coppelmans said the final stage of deliveries remains one of the biggest operational bottlenecks for logistics providers.
“We have come a long way in optimising how drivers get to a destination, but it is now the last few metres, from arrival through delivery handoff, that present the biggest bottlenecks.
“With fuel price volatility, condensed delivery windows, delivery automation and heightened consumer expectations, the stakes have never been higher,” he said in a statement.
According to the company, HERE Last Meter Guidance uses AI, automated sensor data collection and real-world delivery insights to establish ‘ground truth’ for couriers, aiming to improve delivery precision, fuel efficiency and first-attempt delivery success rates.
The company said the solution complements its existing tour planning and navigation capabilities, supporting end-to-end transport operations from route planning to delivery completion.
HERE Last Meter Guidance is expected to move toward general availability after the beta phase.
