MAKKAH, May 16 (Bernama) -- Tabung Haji will offer Malaysian pilgrims a new level of experience through higher-quality services and optimal comfort standards in the Masyair (peak period of the haj pilgrimage) operational areas for the 1447H/2026M haj season.

Among the improved facilities for pilgrims are individual sofa beds, a more efficient air-conditioning system, better-organised storage space, and phone charging facilities at each accommodation site.

In addition, Tabung Haji has increased the number of toilets sixfold compared with last season to ensure greater comfort for pilgrims in the crowded area.

Tabung Haji group managing director and chief executive officer Mustakim Mohamad said the improvements at the Arafah and Mina sites are among their major initiatives to date to optimise pilgrims’ comfort throughout the Masyair period.

“The overall preparations for the Masyair operations are now more than 90 per cent complete, with almost all key facilities fully ready ahead of the Day of Arafah at the end of this month,” he said after inspecting preparations for the Masyair operation here on Friday.

He said among the key improvements this year is the use of new tents in Arafah fitted with heat insulation and split-unit air conditioning to help reduce temperatures inside the tents, as well as the installation of name tags and pilgrims’ photos on each sofa bed to help them easily identify their assigned locations.

“In Mina, Tabung Haji has also increased the number of toilets to around 600 units, up from about 100 previously, and provided phone charging sockets in each pilgrim’s area to meet current communication needs,” he said.

Mustakim said that all the initiatives were aimed at ensuring Malaysian pilgrims have a more comfortable, organised and conducive experience throughout their stay during Masyair.

“We want them to arrive in Arafah and Mina feeling calm and comfortable, without having to worry about rest areas, basic facilities, or daily needs, as everything has already been provided.

“When their welfare and comfort are assured, pilgrims can focus fully on their worship and strive for a haj mabrur (accepted pilgrimage),” he said, adding that the improvements reflect Tabung Haji’s continued commitment to providing the best possible service.

The Masyair operation is the peak of the haj operations, involving the movement of Malaysian pilgrims to Arafah, Mina, Muzdalifah and Makkah over five days from 8 to 13 Zulhijjah to complete the obligatory and essential rites of the haj pilgrimage.
