AMK Urges Immediate Probe Into Alleged Foreign Funding For Political Propaganda

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) -- Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) has urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to immediately investigate allegations of foreign funding linked to attempts to shape domestic political narratives.

AMK chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said an independent and comprehensive investigation, regardless of the political background of those implicated, should also involve Bank Negara Malaysia as well as other security agencies.

He said that the principles of freedom and democracy must not be used as a shield to justify the use or misuse of foreign funds for political activities that threaten national security and sovereignty.

“AMK views seriously the recent revelations regarding alleged foreign funding channelled to politicians, individuals and certain organisations, believed to be used to drive political propaganda, cyber operations and street provocations under the guise of democracy and human rights.

“Any movement that receives and misuses foreign funding to systematically shape domestic political narratives must be investigated thoroughly and transparently, without compromise,” he said in a statement today.

Muhammad Kamil said AMK is also calling for firm action to be taken under existing legal provisions, such as the Penal Code, the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), and the Societies Act 1966, if elements of security threats or money laundering are proven.

“In a time when the country is facing global economic challenges, we need political stability and strong institutional confidence. If the allegations are true, this is extremely dangerous as Malaysia cannot become a testing ground for foreign geopolitical powers through local proxies,” he said.

He added that the public deserves a comprehensive explanation, while firm enforcement action must be taken immediately to demonstrate that the nation’s sovereignty cannot be undermined by any party.

Muhammad Kamil alleged that there are currently financial transactions involving a US-based organisation and a local company amounting to more than RM1.5 million.
