KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- KPJ Healthcare Bhd’s net profit for the first quarter (1Q) ended March 31, 2026, rose to RM69.6 million from RM57.1 million in the same quarter a year ago.

Revenue for the quarter also increased by nine per cent to RM1.05 billion from RM967 million previously.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, KPJ said the improved performance was largely driven by a higher number of patient visits and surgeries performed during the current financial period.

Looking ahead, KPJ said it expects the external environment to remain fluid amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

“While no material direct impact on the group has been observed thus far, we will continue to monitor developments closely and take mitigating actions where necessary,” it said.

Aligning with Bank Negara Malaysia’s projection of gross domestic product (GDP) growth of between four and five per cent this year, supported primarily by continued domestic demand and exports, the group said the Ministry of Health’s decision to defer the implementation of the Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) system to 2027 also provides added clarity for a smoother and more sustainable transition.

Meanwhile, the group has also approved an interim single-tier dividend of one sen per share in respect of the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026, amounting to RM44.3 million.

The proposed dividend will be paid on July 17, 2026, to shareholders registered at the close of business on June 23, 2026.
