TEHRAN, May 23 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Iran and Washington are at the final stage of work on a 14-point memorandum of understanding, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said on Saturday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"Our goal was to develop a 14-point memorandum of understanding, which would cover the most important issues necessary to end the conflict and those of fundamental importance to us. We are currently finalising this memorandum of understanding," Baghaei was quoted as saying by Iran's Fars news agency.
The key points of the memorandum relate to the issues of cessation of hostilities between Iran and the United States (US), the lifting of the maritime blockade placed on Iran and the unfreezing of Iran's sovereign assets held in foreign banks, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday announced progress on Iran and suggested there could be news soon.
"I don't have news for you at this very moment, but there might be some news a little later today. There may not be. I hope there will be ... As I said, there's been some progress done," Rubio told reporters in New York.
