Turkiye Ready To Support Implementation Of Potential Iran-US Agreement: Erdogan

24/05/2026 08:36 PM

ANKARA, May 24 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said Türkiye "stands ready to provide all kinds of support in the implementation phase of any agreement that may be reached with Iran," his office said on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

In a statement, the office said Erdogan made phone calls with United States (US) President Donald Trump and several West Asia countries' leaders, addressing developments in Iran and West Asia.

During the talks, Erdogan said Türkiye is striving to promote peace throughout the region, believing appropriate solutions can be found to seemingly contentious issues, including Iran's nuclear issue.

Erdogan emphasised that Türkiye desires a new era in which countries in the region do not pose threats to each other, and there would be no losers in a just peace.

The statement did not specify when Erdogan held the phone calls with the leaders.

Trump said earlier that a peace agreement with Iran had been "largely negotiated," subject to finalisation among the US, Iran and other relevant countries in West Asia.
