TOKYO, June 8 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- Japan's weather agency on Monday issued a tsunami advisory for the Pacific coast of western and eastern Japan after a preliminary magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the southern Philippines, Kyodo News reported.
The advisory covers areas stretching from Ibaraki Prefecture near Tokyo to Okinawa Prefecture.
A quake struck 24 kilometres west-southwest of Burias, the Philippines, on Monday morning at a depth of 35 km , according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
