MELAKA, June 19 (Bernama) -- The Creative Video Competition organised in conjunction with the 2026 National Security Month at the Melaka State Level successfully served as an effective platform to raise public awareness about the importance of safeguarding national security through creative and impactful digital content.

Melaka State Security Director Norazle Sulaiman said the competition, themed "National Security is a Shared Responsibility," was organised by the Melaka State National Security Council (MKN) to foster a spirit of collective responsibility among citizens regarding national security aspects.

He added that participants from various walks of life were given the opportunity to produce creative videos based on one of the elements or core values embedded within the National Security Policy.

“Participants showcased various creative and innovative ideas in delivering national security messages, including aspects of cyber security, national unity, political stability, public safety, as well as current security threats that require cooperation from all parties.

“This competition aims not only to unearth creative talent in digital content creation, but also serves as an effective public education medium to enhance the community's understanding of the National Security Policy and the role of every individual in ensuring the country's peace and well-being remain preserved,” he said in a statement here today.

Meanwhile, the champion of the competition, Muhammad Zarul Afify, 28, clinched victory with a video titled "National Security is a Shared Responsibility," which highlighted the third Core Value of National Security - National Unity - as a crucial element in guaranteeing national security.

Muhammad Zarul shared that the idea to produce the video stemmed from the realisation that national security is not solely the responsibility of the authorities, but rather requires the active involvement of the entire community.

“I believe every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding national security. Some might think that national security only involves the security forces, but in reality, daily actions such as maintaining harmony within the community, using social media responsibly, and remaining alert to current threats also impact national security,” he said.

He took home a cash prize of RM1,500, a complimentary gift, and a certificate of participation, and will subsequently represent Melaka at the national-level competition.

Meanwhile, Syamil Sahat, 31, secured second place, taking home RM1,000 in cash along with a complimentary gift and a certificate of participation, while third place went to Amizan Lokman, 28, who walked away with RM500 in cash, a complimentary gift, and a certificate of participation.
