KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 (Bernama) -- Perikatan Nasional (PN) has stressed that no activity or meeting bearing the coalition's name may be held without the approval of its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
In a statement, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said this followed official feedback received from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in a letter dated June 19, 2026, concerning the coalition's administrative and management matters.
He said the coalition had received a letter from the ROS confirming receipt of the minutes of the PN Supreme Council’s extraordinary meeting, dated Feb 22, 2026, and acknowledging the council's approval of the resignation of the coalition’s chairman and the appointment of a new chairman.
“The letter also confirmed receipt of the minutes of the Supreme Council Meeting (No. 1/2026) dated March 14, 2026, as well as the list of leadership appointments and the new PN Supreme Council committee members for record purposes by the ROS," he said.
Accordingly, Takiyuddin said PN remained committed to ensuring that all activities, administrative affairs and party management are carried out in accordance with the party constitution and in compliance with Act 832.
Earlier, the media reported that a PN Supreme Council meeting was scheduled to be held tonight following the circulation of a poster on social media featuring an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated image of Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The poster claimed that the meeting would be chaired by Muhyiddin, but Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali denied the claim.
