JOHOR BAHRU, June 20 (Bernama) -- A total of 13,425 employers in Johor were registered under the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) ecosystem as of last year, directly benefiting 479,905 workers in the state through training programmes.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the robust participation also resulted in levy collections of RM208.21 million, of which RM183.96 million was channelled back to employers for employee training programmes.

He added that HRD Corp had also disbursed RM191.5 million in financial assistance, benefiting 232,072 people in Johor and helping strengthen the competitiveness of the state’s workforce.

"However, for me, true success is not measured by the amount of money spent, but by the long-term benefits received by the people of Johor. Through our agencies, the ministry remains committed to helping gig workers enhance their skills and strengthen their career prospects," he said.

He said this at the Johor edition of HRD Corp's 'Pocket Talk' roadshow, themed ‘From Policy to the People’, at Starhill Golf & Country Club in Kempas here today.

Ramanan said strengthening local talent was crucial to supporting the state's growing strategic investments, particularly in meeting demand for highly skilled workers under the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

The 'Pocket Talk' roadshow is an outreach initiative by the Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) and HRD Corp to deliver information on government training funds and upskilling opportunities directly to communities at the grassroots level.
