KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's campaign at the 2026 Macau Open came to an end today after all five national representatives were eliminated in the semi-finals, denying the country a place in the tournament's final.
National mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing were the first to bow out after suffering an 11-21, 22-24 defeat to top seeds Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin of China at the Macau East Asian Games Dome.
Professional men's doubles pair Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong also exited the competition after going down 12-21, 12-21 to Indonesia's fourth-seeded combination Ali Faathir Rayhan-Devin Artha Wahyudi.
Malaysia's hopes in the women's doubles were dashed when second seeds Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting lost 18-21, 13-21 to Thailand Open champions Bao Li Jing-Cao Zi Han of China in the last-four stage.
In the men's singles, Eogene Ewe, who stunned second seed Jason Teh of Singapore in the quarter-finals yesterday, saw his impressive run halted by China's Hu Zhe An, losing 15-21, 18-21.
Completing Malaysia's list of semi-final casualties were men's doubles pair Chia Weijie-Teo Ee Yi, who were outclassed 4-21, 11-21 by South Korea's Jin Yong-Lee Jongmin.
