BUTTERWORTH, June 21 (Bernama) -- The three-day RIUH Pi HAWANA 2026 Carnival at the PICCA Convention Centre @ Arena Butterworth here ended on a high note tonight, having attracted thousands of visitors through a wide range of activities centred on arts, culture, creativity, entrepreneurship and media appreciation.

The programme, one of the highlight events held in conjunction with the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2026 celebration, was organised through a collaboration between the Communications Ministry and RIUH, a platform under MyCreative Ventures.

The carnival featured a variety of attractions, including performances by local artistes, creative industry exhibitions, interactive activities, forums, workshops, food and beverage sales, lifestyle products, as well as dedicated spaces for entrepreneurs and local creative industry players to promote their works.

Visitor Nurul Aida Shahnolhadi, 20, said she was drawn to the carnival's relaxed atmosphere, convenient facilities and the wide range of activities available, as well as the attractive food offerings by vendors.

“I came with my sister and friends to spend the weekend and found the atmosphere to be very comfortable, there are plenty of places to relax and various activities to participate in,” she said.

Fellow visitor, Muhammad Irfan Azman, 25, said such programmes should be continued as they provide a platform to showcase local talent while encouraging the public to appreciate the nation's arts and cultural heritage.

MyCreative Ventures Chief Executive Officer Zainol Haqim Zainol Rashid shared that RIUH Pi HAWANA served not only as an entertainment platform but also a space for dialogue sessions, storytelling and knowledge-sharing that contributed to the empowerment of journalism and the country's creative industry.

The programme was in line with this year's HAWANA theme and reflected the complementary roles of the media and creative industries in shaping an informed and culturally enriched society, he added.

“RIUH Pi HAWANA combines elements of creative arts, dialogue sessions and various activities that can be enjoyed by all segments of society. It also provides opportunities for creative industry players to expand their networks, promote their works and generate income,” he said.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had earlier said that the organisation of RIUH Pi HAWANA was in line with the government's efforts to strengthen the national creative industry ecosystem and provide a platform for local talent and products to be showcased to the public.

He said the programme also played an important role in fostering closer ties between creative industry practitioners, media professionals and the public through various inclusive and family-friendly activities.
