PENDANG, June 24 (Bernama) -- MNRB Holdings Berhad, an investment holding company, has channelled nearly RM600,000 through its MNRB Lestari Cemerlang Programme, benefitting six schools nationwide.
MNRB interim president and group chief executive officer Datuk Rudy Rodzila Che Lamin said the adopted school programme was first introduced in 2011 and is one of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
According to him, the programme focuses on improving academic performance, character development and school excellence, with special attention given to rural areas.
“The MNRB Lestari Cemerlang Programme reflects our aspiration to help schools and students achieve their full potential through an approach that encompasses both academic and co-curricular aspects.
“We hope the programme will serve as a catalyst for student excellence and open up more opportunities for them to pursue further studies and build a better future,” he said at the launch of the programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kubor Panjang here today.
The ceremony was officiated by Kedah State Education Department deputy director (Learning Sector) Ishak Awang and was attended by SMK Kubor Panjang principal Mohd Fadzli Abd Aziz, as well as senior management of MNRB Group.
According to Rudy Rodzila, SMK Kubor Panjang is the sixth school selected under the programme, following its earlier implementation in schools in Perak, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Selangor.
He said that under the programme, various initiatives have been introduced to support school staff and students, including extra classes for Form Five students, motivational camps, student development programmes, upgrades to learning facilities, sponsorship of sports jerseys and a school greening programme.
“MNRB also sponsored a learning space known as the MNRB Smart e-Learning Room, equipped with a smart television and internet facilities to create a more interactive and conducive learning environment as part of efforts to strengthen digital learning,” he said.
Meanwhile, MNRB Group chief people officer Hazlina Hazani said MNRB is offering scholarships to five top students of SMK Kubor Panjang under the Tabung Biasiswa MNRB initiative, supporting their academic journey through diploma, bachelor’s and master’s levels.
He said that so far, a total of 14 students from previous adopted schools have received sponsorship under the initiative, with eight of them now employed by MNRB Group upon graduation.
“Unlike the Lestari Cemerlang MNRB Programme, Tabung Biasiswa MNRB is extended to outstanding students from our adopted schools who are pursuing higher education in fields related to our business, such as insurance, takaful and finance,” she said.
