APM To Test Public Warning System Siren In Sungai Merab Next Tuesday

25/06/2026 04:34 PM

PUTRAJAYA, June 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) will conduct a Public Warning System (PWS) siren test next Tuesday (June 30) to ensure the system is in good working order and ready for use during emergencies or disasters.

In a statement today, APM said the test would be carried out at 10 am around the Civil Defence Headquarters in Sungai Merab, Kajang, Selangor.

APM advised residents within a five-kilometre radius of the siren location, including Bandar Baru Bangi, Sungai Merab Luar and Kampung Abu Bakar Baginda, not to panic upon hearing the siren during the exercise.

"This is purely a technical exercise and does not involve any actual emergency. The exercise forms part of APM's routine maintenance and periodic testing to ensure the effectiveness of the PWS in delivering emergency information to the public quickly and accurately," the statement said.

APM also encouraged the public to take the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the function of the PWS and raise awareness of the importance of disaster preparedness within the community.
