KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- For many aspiring writers, the biggest hurdle is not a lack of ideas but the confidence to take the first step. Fear of failure, perfectionism, and the belief that writing a book takes months, if not years, often discourage them from turning their ideas into reality.

For Intellectual Authors Club (IAC) president S. Nahanthiran, becoming an author is not defined by talent but by having the right structure, guidance and determination.

After authoring 17 e-books across various genres, Nahanthiran developed a writing methodology that he says enables aspiring writers to produce the first draft of an e-book within just 24 hours.

The approach forms the basis of his workshop, which aims to guide professionals, entrepreneurs, educators and first time writers through a structured writing process.

"Many people dream of writing a book, but they often stop before they even begin because they believe the process is too difficult or too time consuming. With the right structure and guidance, anyone can complete their first e book within 24 hours," he told Bernama.

Nahanthiran said one of the biggest obstacles aspiring authors face is perfectionism, which often leads to procrastination and unfinished manuscripts.

"The biggest obstacle is not a lack of ideas but perfectionism. I encourage participants to focus on completing the first draft because editing can always come later," he said.

Unlike conventional writing courses that emphasise lengthy research and writing chapter by chapter, Nahanthiran's workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of e book writing before guiding them through a structured framework that simplifies the writing process.

Participants also take part in practical sessions where they develop their manuscripts throughout the workshop instead of merely attending lectures.

"Writing an e book is different from writing a traditional printed book. Once participants understand the correct structure and methodology, the writing process becomes much more manageable," he said.

The programme also includes a guided refinement process, allowing participants to review and improve their manuscripts before submitting them for evaluation. Those who successfully complete the programme receive certification, reflecting its emphasis on measurable learning outcomes.

According to Nahanthiran, the rise of digital publishing has made it easier than ever for individuals to share their expertise, establish credibility and connect with wider audiences without relying on traditional publishing channels.

"This workshop is designed to be practical and interactive. Participants do not just learn about writing. They actually produce a completed first draft during the programme," he said.

He believes e books have become more than just reading materials, serving as valuable tools for personal branding, knowledge sharing and professional growth.

"An e book allows individuals to share their knowledge, build their personal brand and leave a lasting legacy. My goal is to help more Malaysians realise that becoming an author is within everyone's reach," he said.
