JOHOR BHARU, June 27 (Bernama) -- PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan expressed confidence that voters in the Layang-Layang state constituency want progress, stability and a brighter future with the MADANI Government in the upcoming Johor state election.
He said the enthusiastic turnout and unwavering support shown by supporters, volunteers and campaign workers who accompanied Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Guna Balakrishnan to the nomination centre at the Layang-Layang Community Hall today demonstrated that the campaign was driven by the people’s desire for positive change.
“The nomination process went smoothly. More importantly, the spirit of our campaign machinery never wavered. Even after the nomination process concluded, they remained by our side, chanting words of encouragement and giving our candidate their full support.
“Now the battle has begun. Our sole focus is to secure victory for PH in the Layang-Layang state constituency,” he said in a Facebook post.
Ramanan also called on all campaign workers to continue engaging with voters throughout the campaign period to ensure their support is translated into victory on polling day on July 11.
The Layang-Layang state seat will see a three-cornered contest involving PH candidate Guna Balakrishnan, incumbent Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim of Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Chua Jian Boon of Barisan Nasional (BN).
Abd Mutalip won the seat with a 2,815-vote majority in the 2022 Johor state election, defeating three other candidates in a four-way contest.
Polling for the Johor state election has been set for July 11, with early voting on July 7.
