IPOH, June 30 (Bernama) -- There are no criminal elements in the case involving a Form One student who fell from a structure within the compound of a school recently, police said.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said statements from five witnesses, comprising the victim’s friends and teachers, have been recorded.
“So far, statements from the victim’s friends indicate that the student went up alone to the water tank area and fell to the ground from the third floor near the staircase due to carelessness. There are no criminal elements involved.
“The case has been classified as ROA (referred to another agency) for action by the school,” he said when contacted today.
He added that the victim has regained consciousness and has been transferred to a private hospital here for further treatment.
On June 22, a Form One male student was reported to be in critical condition after allegedly falling from a building within the compound of a secondary school here.
The following day, the Perak Education Department said it would give full cooperation to police and would conduct an internal inquiry to review all aspects related to the case.
