Johor Polls: Bong Seng Heng Banks On Councilor Experience To Win Stulang

30/06/2026 10:01 PM

JOHOR BAHRU, June 30 (BERNAMA) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Stulang state seat, Bong Seng Heng, is banking on his extensive experience as a Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) councillor to win over voters in the Johor state election.

Bong, who is also Johor Bahru MCA division chief, said his four years of service as a councillor has given him a strong understanding of the community's needs and enabled him to build close ties with the local business community.

“For me, the most important thing is to always be on the ground, engage with the people and have a people-first mindset while being ready to serve,” he told reporters after attending a political rally and meeting residents at the Taman Pelangi night market here today.

He also stated his commitment to listen to residents' concerns and resolving their problems through a continuous and consistent approach and was confident of his chances of winning, thanks to the strength of the BN campaign machinery and the shared development vision under the 'Maju Johor' agenda led by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

“I’m just a representative of Barisan Nasional. Behind me, we have a strong party to back us, and we have our Maju Johor agenda. Let's work together, choose the right candidate and move DUN Stulang forward together with Maju Johor,” he said.

Commenting on the participation of the Parti Bersama Malaysia (BERSAMA) in the Stulang contest, Bong described it as healthy democratic competition and said the final decision rests with the voters.

“Frankly speaking, they are quite new to us. I think they are less than three months old, and I don't have much to comment about them. But I would say that everyone has the right to contest this seat.

“So, let's have a fair competition, show our best to the people, and let them decide who is the best candidate for them,” he added.

The Stulang constituency will see a four-cornered contest involving Bong Seng Heng (BN–MCA), incumbent Andrew Chen Kah Eng (PH–DAP), Stanley Tan (BERSAMA) and Lim Chin Eng @ Roland Lim (PN–Bersatu).

A total of 172 candidates are contesting in the Johor state election, which will be held on July 11, with early voting scheduled for July 7.
