DHAKA, Sept 23 (Bernama-BSS) -- Expatriate Bangladeshis sent around US$1.63 billion in remittances during the first 21 days of September in the fiscal year 2024-2025, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reported, citing Bangladesh Bank.
Of this, remittances through state-owned and specialised banks accounted for US$550 million, while private banks received US$1.08 billion, according to a report released by the Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.
The central bank's data reveals that the average daily remittance inflow for September is US$77.8 million. If this pace continues, total remittances for the month are expected to surpass US$2.33 billion.
By September 21 of this year, remittance inflows had already exceeded this figure. Bankers anticipate that total remittances will exceed US$2.2 billion by the end of September.
