SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Tanapat Pichaikool from Thailand celebrated a memorable 25th birthday this year after triumphing in the Toyota Tour Championship 2024 at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club here today.
Although he described his performance today as not as smooth as the previous three days, Tanapat credited his strong putting game for securing the title, finishing with a score of 17 under 271 (67-67-67-70).
“It is great to have my birthday and win but it was a tough day today (and) I just tried to stay in the moment. A couple of tee shots and putts were not good but I just tried to get myself in position to have a chance to win the last couple of holes and I did.
“Overall. I have acheived this year's target and just have one more event to complete the book,” he said when met by reporters.
Tanapat was closely followed by his compatriot, Sarut Vongchaisit, who finished with a score of 16 under 272 to take second place while Ben Jones from England claimed third place with a score of 14 under 274.
Meanwhile, Edven Ying was the best-placed Malaysian, finishing tied eighth with a score of 11 under 277.
“Today my body feels great and energised. My next tournament is in Thailand at the end of the year. At the beggining of this year it is not very good for me but second half I managad to get back on track.
“I hope after this I can play more international games and gain more experience,” he said.
