KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- In light of the recent floods that have affected several states in Malaysia, member banks of the Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) are steadfast in their commitment to support and provide financial assistance to customers impacted by this natural disaster.
In a statement today, the association said ABM member banks have activated comprehensive flood relief assistance programmes to aid affected customers, ensuring that those in need receive timely support.
“The assistance offered includes but is not limited to deferment of loan/financing repayments to ease affected customers’ financial burdens.
“It also includes a waiver of fees and charges to replace lost or damaged bank documents and cards, and special financing facilities to help customers rebuild and recover from the flood damage,” the association said.
In addition, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the floods can apply for the disaster relief facility to enable them to resume their business operations.
The association also advised flood-affected customers to refer to their respective banks for detailed guidance on applying for flood relief assistance.
“ABM assures all customers that member banks are implementing various measures to ensure continued access to essential banking services,” it said.
Notices will be posted at affected branches and on the banks’ websites on the nearest alternative branches to meet their banking needs, it added.
