RM65 Mln Allocation To Help Smallholders Obtain MSPO Certification - Johari

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- The RM65 million allocation through Budget 2025 is expected to provide a boost for more smallholders to obtain the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification, said Commodities and Plantations Minister, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

Of the allocation, RM50 million will be used for MSPO certification, while RM15 million will go towards countering the anti-palm oil campaign.

Additionally, Johari said that the RM100 million allocation received by the ministry will be used to assist smallholders in continuing their replanting programmes.

“We received RM100 million last year and we are receiving the same amount this year. We will gradually implement this over the next five years.

“It is hoped that the increase in replanting efforts will benefit the smallholders," he told the media after the presentation of Budget 2025 in Parliament today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also announced in Budget 2025 that the government plans to raise the threshold for windfall profit levies on palm fruit to RM3,150 for Peninsular Malaysia, and to RM3,650 for Sabah and Sarawak.

Anwar stated that the price range structure and export duty rate for crude palm oil will be revised starting Nov 1, 2024, while the current treatment for crude palm oil exports from Sabah and Sarawak will be maintained
