MAG Adds 200 Flights For Ramadan, Hari Aidilfitri Travel Rush

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG)’s airlines, which operates Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Firefly will be allocating over 200 additional flights during the upcoming Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri peak travel period to accommodate the expected surge in travel demand.

In a statement today, the aviation company said it will increase flight frequencies and upgrade aircraft on key domestic routes, including Alor Setar, Kota Bharu, Terengganu, Miri, Sibu, Kuching, Tawau, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu.

“The airline will also offer fixed all-in one-way fares starting from RM389 to Sabah and RM319 to Sarawak for specific red-eye flights.

“Bookings are available immediately until April 9, 2025, for travel periods between March 26 to April 9, 2025, exclusively on Malaysia Airlines’ official website and mobile app,” it said.

Meanwhile, Firefly will launch a special campaign from March 7 to 20, 2025, offering promotional fares starting at just RM69 for travel between March 7 and Nov 30, 2025.

MAG noted that Firefly will add up to 40 additional flights for its jet and regional aircraft (ATR)-operated flights to destinations such as Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching, Tawau and more to meet heightened demand.

Additionally, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly will support the government’s Raya festive subsidy by capping economy class base fares at RM499 one-way for flights from Kuala Lumpur to East Malaysia.

“This applies to travel between March 27 and 30, 2025. Malaysia Airlines remains dedicated to supporting this initiative to ensure affordable fares during the festive period,” it said.
