Yinson On The Lookout For More Opportunities In Africa

NAIROBI, Nov 24 (Bernama) — Yinson Holdings Bhd is looking for more business opportunities in Africa, after having operated in the region for more than three decades, said its chief executive officer Lim Chern Yuan.

Yinson’s presence in Africa is through its offshore production business, Yinson Production, which recently delivered a major contract with Azule Energy to provide a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit for the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project in Angola. 

“We just had first oil for one of our biggest FPSOs,” said Lim, who was part of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s business delegation during his three-country tour of Africa, in an interview with Malaysian media.

In Ghana, Yinson also operates the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor, while in Nigeria, the company operates the FPSO Abigail-Joseph. 

“We have a gas FPSO that contributes 60 per cent of Ghana’s gas supply,” he said.

“Trips like this are very beneficial. They expand our network, strengthen our base, and enhance our reputation as a Malaysian company in Africa.”

He said Yinson also connected with many potential partners to explore other energy infrastructure assets in South Africa.

“So, it is a region we are familiar with, and we will continue to invest when the right project comes along,” he said, adding that the African continent offers immense potential.
