KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended a donation of RM50,000 for the refurbishment of the facilities at the House of National Association of Writers (PENA), as a sign of the government's support for efforts to elevate the fields of writing and national literature.

In a Facebook post today, Anwar said that the donation was presented by his Political Secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, who met with PENA representatives on his behalf recently, to discuss efforts to uplift the nation's writing and literary landscape.

Anwar said the meeting was a follow-up to the dialogue session he had with seven national laureates last June, which sparked numerous insightful ideas related to the empowerment of arts, culture, and literature in the country.

“Insya-Allah, the outcome of this discussion and donation will help PENA continue to play a vital role in nurturing talent, preserving intellectualism and empowering the voices of local writers.

“This is also part of the efforts to turn the House of PENA as a central hub for literary, language and cultural activities,” he added.
