KUCHING, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak government today launched a database system for Sarawak entrepreneurs, also known as ENBASE to boost the entrepreneurship sector in the state.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said ENBASE functions as a one-stop platform to generate analysis and reports for the state government, then make holistic plans based on the needs of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sarawak.

"Through ENBASE, the Sarawak government will also be able to ensure that specific programmes such as financial assistance, capacity building and product promotion reach the right target groups, including rural groups," he said in a statement today.

He urged Sarawak's entrepreneurs to adopt the best practices and the latest technology including ESG principles to increase the productivity and competitiveness of their respective businesses to be more competitive.

According to him, during the main committee meeting, the Sarawak Entrepreneur Development Coordination Committee (SEDCC) has approved the proposed development of the ENBASE system last year.

The committee is responsible for examining and determining the development policy and coordinating planning, in addition to the implementation of entrepreneurial programmes and projects in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, Awang Tengah said the Ministry of Finance has given its approval to continue the Premises Development Programme (Tamu Desa) Phase 2 in Sabah and Sarawak in 2024 through a one-off allocation amounting to RM10 million.

"For Phase 2, the Sarawak Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment and the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government are still in the process of identifying the suitability of the Tamu Desa project locations," he said.
