New Batik Air Subang SkyPark-Kota Bharu Route Boosts Kelantan Tourism

21/10/2024 10:12 PM

KOTA BHARU, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Batik Air's new route from Subang SkyPark to Kota Bharu, which makes direct flights to Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP) today will boost Kelantan's tourism and improve its economy, said State Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage committee deputy chairman Zameri Mat Nawang.

He said previously there was no direct flight from Subang SkyPark to LTSIP, adding that the only direct flight to Kota Bharu was from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

He said the maiden arrival of Batik Air to LTSIP would indirectly contribute to the state's economic prosperity in conjunction with Visit Kelantan Year 2024.

"Many tourists from home and abroad visit Kelantan because the state has various attractions such as food, large markets for shopping, nature destinations and duty-free zones.

"Tourist statistics as of last June show 1.2 million local tourists travelling to the state, making LTSIP one of the busiest airports," he said at the LTSIP arrival hall here today.

Zameri said this availability of Batik Air's direct flight should increase the rate of tourist arrivals to Kelantan.

At 7 pm, 76 passengers from Subang SkyPark arrived on Batik Air's inaugural flight, welcomed by Malaysia Airport Berhad staff and Batik Air management.

On Oct 2, Batik Air announced the launch of this new direct route, which offers faster, more comfortable travel using Boeing 737 aircraft.

The route to Kota Bharu is Batik Air's second service from Subang SkyPark after the successful launch of the route to Penang, which is evidence of a significant upgrade to the airline's network as it transitions from turboprop to jet aircraft.
