KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- The e-sport game of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has been confirmed as a medal event at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
Similar to the previous edition in Cambodia, the team game is set to offer two gold medals in the men’s and women’s categories.
Ray Ng, the head of Esports Ecosystem of video game developer Moonton Games, said the hosting of the MLBB for the fourth consecutive Games is a positive step forward for esports, which is being increasingly recognised by the global sporting community as a competitive sport.
"One of the key factors behind MLBB's success has been our deliberate strategy to make the competitive esports ecosystem accessible and inclusive to aspiring esports athletes.
"International sporting events like the SEA Games empower e-sports players, organisations and federations by providing them with a globally recognised competitive platform to bring glory to their respective nations," he said in a statement today.
In the Cambodia SEA Games last year, the Malaysian MLBB team won a men's silver and a women's bronze.
