KUCHING, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Sarawak will host the inaugural EIC CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025, a conference aimed at exploring business opportunities within the regional energy market, set to take place in this city on Feb 25 and 26 next year.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said the conference, featuring participants from Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Indonesia, would also promote cross-border partnerships to accelerate the energy transition in the Borneo region.
“The vision and objectives of this conference align with Sarawak’s goals to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. I understand that at the heart of EIC CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025 is our commitment to drive forward the energy transition more aggressively,” he said today.
Speaking at a press conference on the sideline of the state legislative assembly here, he said the two-day event would explore themes like ‘Net Zero as a Catalyst for Economic Prosperity,’ ‘Collaborative Actions in Achieving Regional Synergies’ and ‘Strategies for Strengthening Energy Security’, with special addresses from senior government representatives of the participating nations.
The conference, expected to attract around 1,000 delegates, will be held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here and will feature over 50 sessions with more than 80 speakers from around the world.
Panel discussions will cover various topics, including hydrogen projects, oil and gas, decarbonisation in downstream industries, methanol projects and floating solar initiatives.
