BATU PAHAT, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung Programme, or Santuni MADANI, at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Medan here focuses on developing students’ character and fostering a strong sense of identity.
Information Department (JaPen) director-general Julina Johan said the Skillbox Santuni MADANI @SMK Seri Medan programme, which covered areas such as education, health, patriotism, and safety, provided leaders with an opportunity to serve the people of their birthplace or hometown.
She said that JaPen decided to engage high school students, particularly members of the Malaysiaku Club, to support the government’s desire of producing an educated, morally upright, and patriotic future generation based on the six core values of Malaysia MADANI.
“I was born in Kampung Seri Medan and studied at SMK Seri Medan, so, it is the initial programme approved by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department.
“Under the Santuni MADANI initiative, there are several clusters, one of which is a social cluster, so I chose SMK Seri Medan as the starting point for the teaching and learning aspect,” she told reporters after officiating the Skillbox MADANI @SMK Seri Medan Programme at SMK Seri Medan today.
Julina said that the initiative also sought to boost the village’s potential and enhance the community’s capacity through direct monitoring and engagement with residents, helping to identify their socioeconomic challenges and needs.
“Inshallah, in 2025, we will plan some programmes...we will also broaden the scope of implementation, as the community here is quite large, and we will determine how we can assist with any issues based on our core business.
“The programme this time is different as it is based on the creativity of the head of the service, depending on the village selected. It is not a standard programme and is not the same in every village,” she said.
The one-day programme, held from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm, was attended by 800 people and featured various activities, including performances by PENTARAMA artists, a Kahoot quiz! MADANI, and a scientific talk.
