Ahmad Nawab A Legendary Figure In Music Industry - Seniman

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Artisests Association (Seniman) described the late Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Nawab as a legendary figure with extensive experience in local and international music scenes.

The renowned composer passed away at the age of 92 due to old age at about 3.15 pm this afternoon at his residence in Taman Melewar, Gombak, near here.

In a statement, Seniman secretary-general Hafiz Nafiah expressed deep sadness over his passing, adding that it will be felt by the country's music and film industry players. 

"…Seniman expresses our condolences to the family of the late Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Nawab, and we pray that he is placed in paradise," he said.

Hafiz said Ahmad Nawab, who was born in Penang in 1932, was an active composer till the end of his life, adding that throughout his career, he produced over 200 albums by local and international artistes, including Uji Rashid, Broery Marantika, Hetty Kos Endang, Datuk Khatijah Ibrahim, Sudirman Arshad, and Ramlah Ram.

The news of Ahmad Nawab's passing was confirmed by his granddaughter, Teh Suraya Nasir Khan.

His remains will be laid to rest at Raudhatul Sakinah Muslim Cemetery (Kuala Lumpur-Karak) tomorrow morning.
