BEIJING, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) described the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) as an eye-opening experience in terms of future market planning, as well as benefiting from finding space for their supply chain business.
Kinta Small and Medium Business Sustainability Association (KPKS) Perak president Ooi Kah Biew said the expo provided inspiration, education and opportunities for Malaysian SMEs to go beyond their targets.
“It is eye-opening for us. Let’s hope we can bring some of their technology back to our country. This is part of KPKS’ aim for coming to this expo,” he told Bernama.
KPKS Perak is visiting China to seek opportunities to collaborate with Chinese SMEs.
The visit, from Nov 23 to 28, aims to align local SMEs with advanced technological trends and global best practices.
KPKS’ delegation to China includes vice-president Tan Boon Chye, Jelapang State Legislative Assembly member Cheah Pou Hian, SME activities and programmes organising committee secretary Shum Khee Khee, and several SME leaders from Perak.
One of the delegates, Hurm Burg Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd executive director Yong Wai Meng, said attending CISCE provided significant benefits as he was able to obtain information on electric vehicle (EV) technology showcased in the expo.
“As an automotive component manufacturer, this expo provided an opportunity to obtain information to assist the company in moving forward.
“The technology showcased includes transitioning from traditional cabling to fibre optic in EV development, which is very helpful for our business,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cheh urged Malaysian SMEs to benefit from international expos such as CISCE and understand the direction of technological developments.
“SMEs can utilise the knowledge gained to adapt their business plans and future direction.
“This is an eye-opening session, especially in terms of green energy, smart manufacturing, solar photovoltaic-powered green hydrogen and automated optical inspection technologies,” he said.
The second edition of the CISCE, from Nov 26 to Nov 30, sees the participation of over 620 enterprises, institutions and organisations from over 69 countries, a 20 per cent increase from the first expo.
The expo also provides a platform for participants to seek business partners in the world’s strongest supply chain.
