SEREMBAN, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government is committed to developing electric vehicle charging bays (EVCB) in the state, in line with the federal government’s goal of achieving 10,000 charging bays nationwide by 2025.

State Housing, Local Government Development and Transportation Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar said the Negeri Sembilan Town and Country Planning Department has taken the initiative to present the EVCB Planning Guidelines at the State Planning Committee Meeting on Dec 19, 2023.

He said the guidelines would assist local authorities (PBT) and development regulators in preparing development plans and evaluating applications for planning permissions, building plans or construction permits for EVCBs in the state.

“The guidelines help streamline the application process for EVCB construction and expedite the development of secure and comprehensive infrastructure at strategic locations to support the development of the state’s EV industry.

“The state Town and Country Planning Department, through the Negeri Sembilan Structure Plan 2045, is also prioritising comprehensive public transport and infrastructure development,” he said in response to a question from Siau Meow Kong (PH-Rahang) during the state assembly sitting today.

To a question from Kamarul Ridzuan Mohd Zain (PN-Paroi) on the state’s efforts to address risky trees, Arul said maintenance is conducted through one-off, periodic and continuous measures.

He said his party has also submitted a request for a RM4.7 million allocation to the Public Works Department’s (JKR) Road Facilities Maintenance Branch on Sept 30 to manage high-risk wild trees along federal roads.

“This year, RM10.44 million has been allocated to JKR, PBT and district offices for trimming hazardous trees using the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) allocation,” he said.
